Year 5

We would like to welcome you back to what we know will be an EPIC Year.  We hope you are well and that the children are ready for another busy school year.

The Year 5 team this year are:

5T - Miss Thomas

5H/S - Miss Sylvester and Mrs Blake

Also in our team are: Mrs Lancaster, Mrs Simpson and Miss Oakly.

Reading

As a school we love to read and think this is really important.  It is the expectation that children read for 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week.  Please ensure that you sign your child’s reading record each day that they read.  The children must then return their record to school each day in order for their home reading to be recorded. The children can borrow books from their classroom or the school library. The children should be completing accelerated reader quizzes, when they have finished their book, and are working towards prizes in their class. As well as this, the children can earn badges for each time they read at home.

You can access accelerated reader here -

Times Table Rockstars

This year, there will be a big focus on times tables in both Year 5 and 6. Your children will have their logins and instructions on how to access the site sent home. There will be lots of exciting battles and challenges set on Times Table Rockstars to ensure learning them is made fun.

You can access TTRS here -
