Sports and Fitness News
We had a very successful year at Springbank last year including sports days, intersports events with our cluster schools and the Prince of Wales Athletics Tournament.
With our Sports Premium funding, we continue a signifant investment in sports and PE through our partnership with Isporta.
This year we are intending to create an even more interactive website page with key dates and celebration of achievement and effort. Keep looking here for up to date information and dates.
Prince of Wales
A massive thank you to all the children and parents that joined us at the Prince of Wales stadium on Wednesday 6th July for the athletics tournament. All the children were EPIC and participated well in their races. A special mention to Honey Mitchell for coming second in the Year 3 sprint and Shayah Bateson for coming first in the Year 6 spring.
Tag Rugby Cluster Tournament
On Wednesday 9th March we held a Y5/6 Tag Rugby tournament for local schools. Unfortunately only Rowanfield Junior School could make it to this event. The children however had lots of fun playing against each other. Each school had a mixture of boys and girls which made it inclusive for everybody. The children all had great fun.
A fantastic effort from all the boys this season! We didn't get through the quarter finals but they all played well.
Year 3/4 Football:
Year 3/4 football has been a very popular club for both girls and boys this term. The children have worked with the Isporta coaches to develop ball control, passing and shooting skills. All children took part in a friendly tournament against Rowanfield Junior School which was enjoyed by all.
Year 5/6 Football:
The year 5/6 football club have been training hard this term in preparation for some tough matches in the Gloucestershire Small School's League. The children have represented the school well and we have had many comments about the great sportsmanship from all players!
The year 5/6 football team have made it into the next round!!!
They will be playing against Greatfield Park, Hester's Way and Gretton in the next round.
12- 1 - Greatfield Park (at home)
4-2 - Gretton (away
Hester Way is scheduled for 17th March
Year 2 Multiskills
On Monday 11th January 2016, all of Year 2 went to Pates Grammar School for a multiskills event with the Year 12 children. They walked over to the school and completed lots of different fun activities to improve their fundamental skills. This included skills such as running, jumping, dribbling and throwing.
